Since it is all about timing, taking the time to really learn what you're doing will make a difference when you are thrust into a Dunk Contest event. The best way to do this is to design a two-player Dunk Contest and play both guys.

Get a feel for the controls and timing before attempting a contest in Street Challenge mode.The Dunk Contest works essentially the same way as doing a Gamebreaker in the normal game. Approach the rim and press shoot to go into the dunk animation then move the right analog stick in various directions to perform different tricks in the air. As with a 'Breaker, you have to end your series of tricks as you near the rim, or you'll miss the dunk completely. Then you'll be sorry. Try to get in at least three tricks on the way down.Notice the Creativity meter at the bottom of the screen? If you do all different tricks, it will fill up all the way, and therefore make your score higher. If you repeat tricks in the air, it will not fill fully, and will result in less points.

Do not repeat tricks!There are a couple of other things you can do to bump up your score. First, before you set up a dunk, you can move obstacles into the court. Place them near the hoop for best success.

As you approach, make sure you take off for the shot well in front of the obstruction, or you'll end up cracking into it and getting a low score.Another way you can add to the score is to pass the ball off the hoop back to yourself. Timing is very important when doing this. Almost immediately after executing the pass, you'll want to press the shoot button. This will cause your guy to sky up and grab the rock. When the action switches to the Gamebreaker perspective, you'll have enough time to do maybe one trick. To make the most out of each run, place an obstacle and pass to yourself, or at least do one or the other.What's a good score?
